Daggett - In the 1920s and 30s, Daggett Field was used as a mail plane re-fuel stop. Then
in World War II, the airfield field was used by Donald Douglas Aircraft Co., to build twin engine attack bomber known as the
A-20 Havoc. People working at Daggett field were provided on the property two storied wooden frame barracks. Military officers
had two bedroom homes including a garage. Some of these are still being used today.
In the 1960s San Bernardino County took control and became owner of Daggett Airport. Today most of
the airport facilities are for Army helicopters used in the desert warfare training at Fort Irwin. Private aircraft are welcomed
at the Daggett Airport.
